Wisconsin Tactical builds AK's . . . Not Just Your Grandpa's AK's, but custom AK's . . . We painstakingly start from a piece of flat metal, drill, bend precisely and heat it, tempering it for just the right hardness. Each firearm is designed to the highest quality, with you in mind. Our guns are not factory guns.

Each one is carefully crafted, from napkin designs with cad like detail  . . . No Oh Shit moments here . . . We wouldn't allow that. Nor would we build two exactly alike.

Each Cerakote finish is baked on making it rock tough . . . Ever seen a green AK . . . You have now . . . Everyone tells me, they have to have a stock . . . For what, I say . . . Mine is the under-folder below . . . It's my version of a MP40 . . . How Cool, Right?

WITAC builds dreams . . . I couldn't afford an MP40, so Wisconsin Tactical built me something as close as I could get. The under-folder wouldn't fit with a side scope mount . . . So they modified the under-folder / cutting it and welding in a cheek rest, just so it would clear --- Why?  Because that's what I wanted . . . You don't have to settle, just tell WITAC what you want and they'll do it.

Oh and I have a bayonet lug . . . Again, Why? Cause that's what I wanted . . . Add my single point sling and you'll be drooling too!!!





Maybe the next one, I'll have them do in a green . . . How about a green AK Pistol?

WITAC's been busy . . . 

We are Gunsmiths before everything else . . . When our Gunsmithing Racks are full, I am not happy . . . Because you're not happy either . . . But understand this is temporary and we are working to fix this . . . Currently our Turn-a-round for us is at an all time high, 4 to 5 weeks. We've hired two people and our racks are starting to show empty spaces. A couple more weeks and we'll be back to 2 to 3 weeks Turn-a-round.

This year we have taken in 719 projects and finished 609 . . . These numbers do not reflect our AR or AK builds, just Work Orders . . . WITAC is proud of our transition from an everyday gun store to Wisconsin's Premier Gunsmith . . . We have developed a Dealer Gunsmithing Program for area Firearm Dealers who don't have the resources we do . . . And it's growing daily. In 2016 we plan to do more.

A Successful Deer Hunt Starts With You . . .

Avoid the rush, act now.

Every year customers wait till the last minute to have their favorite hunting rifles worked on . . . Sometimes they forget,  something broke the last time they were in the field. Let's face it, we're human. All the time Wisconsin Tactical gunsmiths get rifles that don't cycle . . . They don't know what a clean rag looks like. Others are so gummed up by oil . . .

A hit or miss usually depends on you . . . And it happens when a deer wanders into your area, you raise your rifle. There he is in your cross hairs and you pull the trigger . . . and CLICK . . . Not the BANG you expected and then comes the should have's . . . I should have cleaned my gun. Damn it, this happened last you and I never got to the gunsmith. I should have test fired my gun. I should have sighted it in . . . I should have . . .

WITAC Gunsmiths don't just wipe your firearm with oil . . .

We start with a DCOA, Disassemble, Clean, Oil, and Assembly of Rifle, Shotgun,  or Handgun. The firearm is completely stripped, and all parts are  inspected for wear. If parts are needed they are ordered and replaced. ( This in some instances could take weeks). The firearm is lubricated where and only where needed and re-assemble to factory specs . . . If not by your gunsmith at least take out your firearm and visually inspect / clean.

Safety Check of a firearm to ensure that it is in good working condition and safe to fire. 
Test Firing - A firearm always should be test fired in a safe manner after gunsmithing . . . Always test fire your gun before you go to the field.

And once you get your rifle back from the gunsmith . . . You must, sight it in . . . Go to the range and zero your scope in . . . Shoot your firearm. It may pull to the left, and that may be fine for you because you have always compensated . . . Still the important thing, YOU KNOW . . .

How to build a Precision Rifle

WE ARE WITAC . . .

Where should you start to build a precision Rifle? At the beginning and the means determining what the goal is. So many of us never know when we've succeeded . . . Sounds a little silly, but it isn't. In terms of project management 80% of any goal can be done cheaply . . . It's the next 20% that could cost millions.


Everyone seems to think precision can be bought . . .Maybe in a perfect world but a factory gun is still a factory gun. Don't get me wrong . . . A factory gun is a great place to start. Just find one you like. We like to start with a Remington 700 or a Savage . . . Savage has the Accu Trigger, thus eliminating the trigger pull problem.

Then it's a question of caliber . . . The largest caliber is going to require more gunsmithing, because the recoil is going to damage reliability factors . . . Zeroing and holding zero of the scope . . . And never forget creating bad shooting habits. Simply put, if it hurts, you're going to avoid shooting or seldom shoot. Adding a compensator will decrease recoil force by 30 to 50% . . . Bring on that 338 or 300 Winmag.

Now you're shooting . . . Zero in your gun at 100yards, 200 yards or 400yards . . . Sure you could determine clicks of the scope, but how about setting the scope and forgetting it.  Many shooters zero at 200yrds knowing that 100yrds is two inches high and 400yrds is two point whatever inches low . . . And that takes practice and with time experience will come . . . And then maybe you'll want to learn to use the scope, maybe not.

Now you want 1" groupings . . . Maybe touching . . . The same hole !!!

Action Blueprinting . . . Actions are fit in a fixture and centered off bore line. Lugs, face and threads are recut to true bore.
Glass Bedding . . . Bedding action and recoil lug, leaving barrel free floating.
A trigger job and add a new Stock, recoil pad and shoot some more.
Reloading . . . Reloads are fit to the gun they were last fired from . . . Hence they are fit to your gun for a tighter grouping.
